Many great match ups didn’t happen this Friday and Saturday as most games in West Michigan were rained out. We were looking forward to games like East Grand Rapids vs West Catholic, FHC vs St. Joseph and Grand Rapids Christian vs Hudsonville.
Games like those help us to get a better idea of the difference between the various teams.
The best team doesn’t always win on any given day in baseball, more so than in any other sport. So, we take into consideration what we see when we watch teams play, the opinions of area coaches and the quality of each team’s schedule (and how the teams they play do against other teams).
This week, West Catholic drops out after a loss to Allendale, who has a losing record on the year. East Grand Rapids is back in the Top 10 after taking 2 of 3 from Grand Rapids Christian.
St. Joseph drops to #8 after losing two games to a very good Mattawan team.
Here’s our latest rankings of the top teams in West Michigan High School Baseball!

East grand rapids has 6 loses. one of those is from a mercy by middleville. i am confused why middleville is not in here.
Its because of Strength of Schedule. EGR has one of the hordest schedules in the state this year.

Middleville has a pretty tough schedule as well. They still mercied EGR which is confusing why they arent up there.
They mercied East in Easts first game of there season while TK was playing there fourth or fifth. East would dominate them if they played now
The usual, an east fan with a big head.
Is Saint Joe just not counting their loss to Dowagiac?
No, that was my mistake. I wasn’t skipping that loss, I just missed it when posting the record – I knew about it though. It can be difficult to keep track of all the games for all the teams, especially when not all schools reports on time or at all, to their local paper or on their own sites.
I have corrected their record.
i agree with the person who said that it was just another big headed egr fan. i dont know much about how other teams are doing but my son played middleville and they were a very solid all around team. good hitters from top to bottom and a solid pitching staff.
forest hills eastern is yet to play the 3 hardest teams in the conference
Well, Hastings is pretty good!
But, they do yet face South Christian, Middleville and Catholic. All good and all will battle with FHE.
FHE has some tough-to-beat pitching in #1 and #2 (Wilkerson/Westdorp).
The OK Gold is a good conference.
the ok gold is a very good conference. administrator, do you know the scores for the fhe games tonight? im not sure who they play.
FHE 6, South Christian 5
FHE 4, South Christian 3
Story coming soon!
Hastings is pretty good? They are in a spot to take 2nd in the conference. This week in the first time the lost a series in the conference beside the series against forest hills eastern (which hastings won the series finale by mercying eastern). And Hastings beat catholic central two outta three games, which would make them a better team than you are trying to say they are. They are a good bunch of kids that could go really far this year. There is no question that they could be the second best team in the conference. And if Hastings had to play any of the teams the lost to this year again, Im sure they would beat them this time around. Therefor I think Hastings should get the respect adn recognition they have earned. i think they should be in the rankings, and be thought of more. They had a record breaking season last year taking second in the conference, and they are on track to beat some of those same records again this year, along with another conference runner up season. Hastings is a really good team, and no one should think past Hastings just becasue they arent from a big city or a rich school.
no matter how hastings does tonight against middleville they will have lost 2 of 3 to both fhe and middleville (and maybe 3 of 3 to middleville. hard to claim they are number 2 in the conference.
Hastings would not be overlooked because they “aren’t from a big city or a rich school”. They aren’t being respected because they aren’t THAT good. They have one good pitcher, who is a stud, but aside from him they are pretty week. The fact that they aren’t from a big city or wealthy is irrelevant to their lack of success.
