Recommended Reading: Senior Year

Senior Year: A Father, A Son and High School Baseball (by Dan Shaughnessy) is highly recommended for those parents who are facing their son’s final high school season and anyone else interested in a look at high school baseball.

The author, Dan Shaughnessy, is well know to many baseball fans.

A long time columnist for the Boston Globe, Shaughnessy has followed the Boston Red Sox for years and is probably despised by as many people as those that like him.

In the this book, he puts aside his normal caustic writing style to detail the final season of his son’s high school baseball career and his search for a college at which to continue playing the game.

Sam Shaughnessy is a top player for his high school in Newton, Massachusetts and the book goes into fine detail as it describes the ups and downs of a top athlete as he is recruited by Division I schools.

You will find mixed reviews of this book on the Amazon site but if you have or had a son play high school baseball, you will likely find much to relate to here.

You can find this book on Amazon and by purchasing it (or anything), you will be supporting West Michigan High School Baseball!
