2011 Players to Watch: Robby Enslen

Robby Enslen of Middleville is becoming well known in West Michigan as one of the top pitchers and infielders in the area.

The hard-throwing RHP has been a top pitcher for the Trojans the last two years. But, it’s Enslen’s bat that has been the most impressive to the college scouts.

After being brought up to the varsity as a Freshman, Enslen really broke out his Sophomore year when he earned honorable mention All-Conference.

He followed that up with a stellar Junior campaign, going 7-2 on the mound while striking out 70 batters.

His hitting again was among the best in the area with a .477 Batting Average and 15 doubles, 2 triples and 3 home runs.

In addition, he had an On-Base % of .524 and a tremendous Slugging Average of .730.

Enslen’s pitching success earned him an All-Conference nod, while he made All-District, All-Region and Second Team All-State as an infielder.

The slick fielding Enslen will hold down the shortstop position for the Trojans in 2011 in addition to being the team’s ace on the mound.

With a goal of playing Division I college baseball, Enslen played a very competitive summer season with the top Diamonds team coached by Billy Peterson.

This team gave Enslen the opportunity to play along side some of the best players in West Michigan, including fellow “2011 Players to Watch” Mitchel Patterson and Ryan Elbe, as well as graduated seniors Zak Wilkerson, Alex Lakatos, and Jerry Ferris.

Tournaments played at the University of Michigan, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and Wrigley Field offered Enslen lots of exposure to college scouts.

With that experience, you can expect to see Robby Enslen’s dream of playing Division I baseball coming true next fall!

UPDATE: On October 20th, Robby Enslen Commits to Oakland University

You rock Robby! Wish we didn’t live so far away. I would be in the seats every chance I had. Carly and Jamie are so proud of you! We taught your cousins about this sport by attending the DB’s in AZ with season passes. Once we got beyond the wonder of cotton candy and Chicago style dogs, they actually loved it. Best, Jan
