Cam Cooper has been the starting center fielder for the Sparta Spartans since he was a Freshman.
After his Sophomore year, Cooper was named All-Conference, All-District, All-Region and All-Area.
While it’s hard to say that he was flying under the radar up to that point, Cooper really gained the attention of the college scouts after his Junior year.
For the third straight season, he led the Spartans in most offensive categories.
For his efforts, Cooper was named All-Conference, All-District, All-Region, All-Area and 2nd Team All-State.
This is to be expected after he put up stats like these last season:
Batting Average: .490
On Base%: .567
Slugging: .860
Doubles: 8
Triples: 11
Home Runs: 4
Runs Scored: 45
RBI’s: 35
Stolen Bases: 34
Cooper has played travel baseball for Elite Baseball out of Grand Rapids for many years. Last summer, he played on the top Elite 18U team coached by Jim Abbott.
He led the team in hits and RBI’s while finishing second with a .409 batting average.
Long known as one of the top all-around athletes in West Michigan, Cam Cooper has been the starting quarterback (and defensive back) for Sparta since his Freshman season.
His performance on the gridiron has earned him opportunities to play college football. However, look for Cooper to be playing college baseball next fall.
With a quick bat, a 6.8 time in the 60 and high-80′s arm speed from the outfield – Cooper is drawing the attention of many schools.
Cooper has been getting looks from several D1 and D2 colleges, including Grand Valley State University and Oakland University, as well as from schools outside of Michigan.
Whatever his choice, we expect Cam Cooper to be an impact player at whatever school he chooses!
