Bryan Baldwin of Rockford Signs with Spring Arbor University

Bryan Baldwin, one of West Michigan High School Baseball’s 2011 Players to Watch, has officially signed with Spring Arbor University.

“I chose Spring Arbor because the baseball team was so close-knit”   Baldwin told West Michigan High School Baseball.

“I felt comfortable the first time I visited. Everything I heard about the school and the baseball program was positive.”

Baldwin will join a pitching staff that is loaded with talent. In addition to Michigan’s 2010 Mr. Baseball winner, Alex Zeiher from Saline, Baldwin will join forces with 2010 Jenison graduate Jerry Ferris.

“I’m friends with Jerry Ferris said Baldwin.

Jerry and I had some pretty intense pitching battles during high school so it will be great to be on the same side for now on”!”

Baldwin and Ferris both played for traditional OK Red powers and faced each other multiple times during their high school careers.

Spring Arbor is a well-respected baseball program, led by one of the nations’ top coaches in Sam Riggleman.

“I really wanted a chance to play for Coach Riggleman and be in a school with a Christian atmosphere”
said Baldwin.

In addition to joining a top pitching staff, Baldwin will be re-joining his old battery-mate from Rockford, Shane Street, who is a sophomore catcher for the Cougars.

“I can’t wait to pick up where Shane and I left off in high school”
said Baldwin.

“I know that Shane will help me with my skills as a pitcher and evolve as a person.”

Before he joins Spring Arbor, Baldwin will be returning for his senior season at Rockford. West Michigan High School Baseball expects the Rams to field on of the top teams in West Michigan in 2011 and Baldwin will certainly be a big part of their success.

Congratulations to Bryan Baldwin!
