Aquinas College to Host 2nd Annual High School Invitational Tournament

Aquinas College will host its 2nd Annual “Aquinas College High School Invitational” on May 13th and 14th.

“After last years very successful inaugural event, the tournament is getting bigger and better in 2011″, said Terry Bocian, Baseball Coach Emeritus at Aquinas College.

Each team participating is coached by a former Aquinas College baseball player and alumnus. The sites for this year will be: Kimble Stadium, East Grand Rapids High School, Pinery Park and Wyoming Rogers High School.

All teams will play at least two games and some will play three.

This years teams (and their head coach), include:

Wyoming Park (Shawn Veenstra)
Wyoming Rogers (Bernard Varnesdeel)
Hopkins (Pat O’Dell)
Corunna (Brian Osborn)
Ionia (Jason Lundstrom)
Traverse City West (Matt Bocian)
Godwin Heights (Jeff Johnson)
East Grand Rapids (Chris Lamange)
Sterling Heights Stevenson (Joe Emmanuele)
Tri-County (Chris Overbeek)
Wayland (Larry Ward)
Lowell (Juston Miller)

Chris LaMange at East Grand Rapids and Joe Emmanuele at Sterling Heights Stevenson have both won State Championships at their respective schools.

Admission to all games will be free.

    Do you know when the groupings of who will play who will be announced?

      No, I don’t know when they will announce that. I assume it will be when they set the final schedule.

      Aquinas said the will forward it to us when it’s ready.
